What does it do? This mod will give you an increased compression ratio, thus more power. |
|
How does it work?Compression ratio is a ratio between the volume of the cylinder(including combustion chamber) at bottom dead center (bottom of stroke), to the volume of the cylinder at the motor's top dead center(top of stroke). Increasing the
compression ratio in a motor does a few things. First, the motor is able to compress the
same volume of incoming air and fuel into a smaller cylinder volume at TDC. When ignited, this allows for
an increase in the energy released from the combustion process. Second, it increases the chance of pre-detonation,
or knock, and has the possibility of wearing components sooner.

Step 1:
Remove the cam intake box, carb, and intake manifold via the 8mm bolts that connect the intake manifold to the
cylinder head.
|
|
Step 2:
Remove the cam gear cover, right side cover, valve tappet covers, and valve cover via a combination of 8mm nuts
and a 10mm bolt for the cam gear cover (which is located on the right side cover). Note the locations of the copper washer and open head nut and put the back where you took them off.
|
|
Step 3:
Remove the left side 10mm bolt that secures the head onto the cylinder by using a screwdriver AND a 10mm open-end wrench.
This combination of tools helps avoid rounding the bolt.
|
|
Step 4:
Remove the left-side transmission cover via three 8mm bolts around the exterior
(Might also require removal of the shift lever).
