| Stock Airbox
Mod |
Cost: $0
Difficulty: 3 of 5
Tools Required: Hack saw, Phillips head
screwdriver, pliers.
Is Mod Reversible?: No |
|
The stock air box has a puny
1” opening through its snorkel. This opening is responsible
for supplying all the air for the your 50 (it’s like
breathing through a straw). For this mod, we’re going
to open up your intake and eliminate 70% of all the unnecessary
restrictions. The easier your bike can breathe, the more power it will generate. Remember that "intake" is only part of the equation; you must also open up the exhaust. Please see Exhaust Mod. |

Step 1: Remove the stock air box assembly by loosening
the single Phillips head screw, then temporarily detach
the crankcase breather hose. The entire unit should slide
completely off the carburetor. It should look like this
on your work bench.
